About Me

I am a 42-year-old fitness enthusiast, runner, and certified group exercise instructor with a pooch and a little cushioning around the hips. I’m OK with that.  My personal goal is balanced health of the body, soul, and spirit, which means I may not be doing anything perfectly, but at the end of the day, they are all hopefully a little stronger.

I love to help and encourage people to find their love in fitness, whatever that may be.  We don’t have to be on the cover of a magazine to be healthy and strong and proud of what we can do.  God gave us these beautiful machines called our bodies. Regardless of what we look like, we can get them running well and strong.  I’d like to take that journey with you as you achieve your own personal fitness.

Rarely do I finish out a day in a way that would make a dietician proud.  There’s a basket in my pantry constantly filled with dark chocolate and a shelf in my house full of wine for me to drink while prepping my dinner (and occasionally, beyond).  More than once I’ve raided the Lay’s Potato Chips for my boys’ lunches.  That’s where grace comes in – I try not to beat myself up about it, and make a better choice next time.

I’ve been married for 19 years to my BFF, Mr. Poppins.  He’s practically perfect in every way and makes my heart swell.  We have two tween boys (Spike – 13 and Speedy – 11) in whom we try to instill healthy nutrition and exercise habits.  Only time will tell if they continue with a healthy lifestyle, or if it totally backfires and they end up as couch potatoes and in complete resistance of the word “healthy”.

Most mornings I wake up with my coffee, Bible and sitting at the feet of God.  His word and presence calms, energizes, strengthens, and grounds me.  Without Him I’d be a completely different person and yet He is always challenging me to grow and change.

We all have room to grow and change.  If becoming healthier is one of those areas for you, let’s ride this journey together, celebrating our wins and giving ourselves grace when we take wrong turns.  We’ll get there!
