The Graced Health Podcast by Amy Connell

The Graced Health podcast is for women who want simple ways to take care of themselves and age their bodies well. And of course, we enjoy a little chocolate in the process.

Injured? Or been injured?

Try as we may to prevent it, injury happens. Sometimes it’s preventable (like those caused by overuse and/or not enough rest). And sometimes we step off the back of a U-Haul and BAM (or more precisely, SNAP) your MCL is torn.

Today’s episode is a two-part interview with my friend, Cheri Fletcher. Our first discussion centers around her preparing for MCL surgery. She shares her concerns, her plans for her downtime (because she’s a driver like me and never stops moving), and the irony of what she feels God is teacher her through this.

Then I catch up with her again about 10 days post surgery to see how she’s recovering, feeling (mentally and physically) and if she indeed was able to BE STILL.

We discuss:

  • Her love of movement and relationships made and fostered on the sidewalks.
  • How exactly she found herself injured
  • The surprising directive her physical therapist gave her post-injury
  • The head space we can so easily land in
  • How our identity plays into our movement
  • Intentionality of the down time
  • Her no-excuses attitude
  • Permission to BE STILL (and if she followed God’s prompting in that)
  • How recovery is going
