If you're suffering from hip and low back pain, it may be a surprising reason: your pelvic floor health...regardless of your age

The surprising reason for your back and hip pain (not visible on an x-ray)

Get ready for the most laughs you have ever encountered in a conversation about pelvic floor health.

And if you think you just need to do kegels to strengthen your pelvic floor, you definitely need to keep listening. Also – did you know your back and hip pain may be due to your pelvic floor?

Many women experience tightness and discomfort in their back, groin, and hips after childbirth. Seeking help, they turn to their doctor – only to be told it is a mild case of some orthopedic issue or that their x-rays look good. But then, the pain continues to worsen, forcing women to continue to modify their habits to accommodate the pain.  Their pelvic floor and core continue to get weaker, and pain prevents these women from exercising, enjoying intimacy, and living their fullest life. And, even though you may be in your 40s, 50s or beyond, you may still be experiencing the side effects from this.

Jenn Lormand and Christina Walsh join the show today to get real about pelvic floor health, and nothing is off limits in this conversation!

If you're suffering from hip and low back pain, it may be a surprising reason: your pelvic floor health...regardless of your age.

We discuss:

  • What a “tinkler” is (you can probably guess)
  • What is entailed with manual therapy (spoiler alert it’s all external!)
  • Why your back and hip pain may be related to your pelvic floor health
  • How do you know if you’re suffering from overtraining, core dysfunction, or other issues.
  • Why the discomfort and issues may still be with you even if your “baby” is in their teens
  • Issues you may need to pay attention to that are indicators of a weak center of gravity
  • Why kegels are an outdated way of strengthening our pelvic floor
  • The added benefits of strengthening your pelvic floor health: intimacy and not waking up in the middle night to pee
