The Food Police is harming your body, mind and soul

I have spent a lot of time in discussions and learning about Intuitive Eating, which focuses on the personal process of honoring your health and listening and responding to the direct messages of your body to meet your physical and psychological needs. For those of us who grew up in diet culture and hyper focused on all things nutrients, this process is a steep, steep learning curve. However, I do think it makes a LOT of sense. After all, man survived for years without their calorie and macro trackers and God did, after all, give our bodies signals. Some of us have just forgotten how to listen to these signals. 

Even though my book, Your Worthy Body is only a year old, this is one element I would alter in the chapter entitled “There’s One Best Diet.” Each chapter is a rule to break, and this one helps the reader figure out what way of eating is best for her based on how it makes her feel as well as how realistic and sustainable it is. I really wish I’d read the book Intuitive Eating before writing Your Worthy Body so I could have incorporated more principles in it.

But alas, I didn’t, so I’m taking these conversations here to the podcast. My guest today, Shelly Naiir of Confident Nutrition, joins to discuss one element of Intuitive Eating, which is the Food Police. She brings this through a filter of faith and I know there are going to be some parts of this conversation that hit home with you…at least they did for me.
