Today I’m speaking with Jenna Unke, a physician’s assistant at MD Anderson Cancer Center to learn about the types and risk factors of gynecological cancer (I was surprised at some of them) and signs to look for when something’s not right.

How do you know if something’s not right “down there”?

Today I’m speaking with Jenna Unke, a physician’s assistant at MD Anderson Cancer Center to learn about the types and risk factors of gynecological cancer (I was surprised at some of them) and signs to look for when something’s not right.

I’m in this season right now exploring broader aspects of our health. As much as I love taking about movement and food, the reality is our health encompasses so much more. This is a conversation I know I needed. I learned so much, and honestly was surprised to hear that when I go for my annual exam, that doesn’t always tell my doctor and me the whole story. Jenna walks us through the different types of gynecological cancer, signs that something isn’t right, risk factors and so much more.

Jenna is a Physician’s Assistant with the world-renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she focuses on gynecological oncology surgery. She’s also an ACSM Personal Trainer and has a strong passion for personal training and nutrition. She and her husband have a 1.5 year old son and they love to explore God’s beautiful creation and enjoy running, hiking, camping.

Please note, this episode focuses on women’s health. We use the correct terminology throughout, so if you aren’t at a place where you feel comfortable with other people hearing anatomically correct words, bookmark this and come back at a better time.

About Jenna

Jenna was born and raised in a small town in Wisconsin (Go Pack!). She received my undergraduate degree in Biology and Nutrition at University of Wisconsin La Crosse. While in school she became an American College of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer. She received my masters degree in Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Midwestern University, just outside of Chicago. Jenna and her husband moved to Houston, and she is now a Physician’s Assistant at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the department of gynecological oncology surgery. Jenna and her husband have a 1.5 year old son. They love to explore God’s beautiful creation and enjoy running, hiking, camping, and eating her favorite food (ice cream, of course!)
