Season 23 Recap

This season featured 23 episodes with a mix of solo content (15 episodes) and guest interviews (8 episodes). I covered various aspects of holistic health through a faith-based, diet-culture-free lens, focusing on body, mind, and spirit wellness for women in perimenopause and beyond.

Season Structure and Overview

Every year, I divide my podcast into three seasons. The first begins in January, leading us into early summer. The second is a short one during midsummer, and lastly, another season runs from August through the end of the year. This season, Season 23, has included 23 episodes, featuring a blend of solo episodes and guest appearances. These episodes have given us fun and enriching experiences. Now, let’s explore the episodes thematically.

Categories and Highlights

Nutrition

Starting with nutrition, Episode 4 delved into “Ultra Processed Foods, Food Science, and Intuitive Eating: How to Create Balance.” This episode was about integrating the love for nutrition with intuitive eating, focusing on practical strategies without buying into diet culture.

In Episode 11, “Nutrition Essentials and Perimenopause and Beyond,” we explored six essential guidelines for nutrition, particularly for those in perimenopause. This was all about blending practical approaches with psychological elements of eating.

Episode 22 shared personal experiences in choosing safe seafood options, inspired by my unfortunate encounter with sig terra poisoning. This episode provides insights into selecting seafood responsibly.

Fitness

Fitness has been a key focus, with Episode 9 discussing the importance of “The Bone Battle No One is Talking About: How Strength Changes Everything.” We continued with Episode 10, “How to Protect Your Vulnerable Areas With Strength Training,” offering guidance for those unsure where to start with strength training.

Episode 17, inspired by community dialogues, tackled the query, “Should I Wear a Weighted Vest?” offering insights and research into the benefits of weighted vests. Episode 20 expanded on footwear, titled “Finding Your Perfect Fit: Decoding the Secret to Choosing the Right Shoes.”

Stress Management and Nervous System

Episode 8 featured Sherry Chabon discussing the detrimental effects of diet culture on the nervous system and emotional wellbeing. We unpacked myths around meditation with Anne Swanson in Episode 15. Janice McWilliams joined in Episode 16, exploring self-care beyond traditional pampering.

General Wellness

Journeying through general wellness, we began with Episodes 1 and 2, contemplating “8 Questions to Ask Yourself in the New Year.” Episode 5 explored chronic pain management, while Sarah Pritchard enlightened us on addiction in Episodes 6 and 7.

Episode 13 allowed me to rant, rave, and review–a light-hearted exploration of topics swirling in my mind. Episode 15 encouraged us to find grace amidst the maximization culture, and Episode 18 with Stephanie Ravens Craft shared valuable insights on identity and transformation.

Looking Ahead

As we conclude Season 23, know that July will feature shorter episodes called “A Moment of Grace.” We’ll revisit impactful guest insights that deserve another listen, offering grace and wisdom to enrich your day.

We are nearing a remarkable milestone: 500 episodes! While I’m pondering ways to celebrate, I’d love to hear your thoughts on making this momentous occasion special.
