Nutrition can be confusing. It seems every six months we hear of new eating plans and diets and lions and tigers and bears, oh my.

Adding to the noise is how, exactly, do we get quality food in our teen athletes? Do they need to eat differently? And how do we encourage them to actually eat what is best for them to perform and recover well?

I’m beyond excited to share my conversation with Roberta Anding today. Roberta is a sports dietitian and has so many letters after her name I don’t even know what they all mean.

Currently, Roberta serves as the sports dietitian for the Houston Astros, Rice University athletics, and Baylor College of Medicine Corporate Programs. She’s also the former sports dietitian for the Houston Texans NFL franchise and Houston Ballet.

I told you she was impressive.

Perhaps my favorite aspect of Roberta’s approach is her balance. She’s realistic, and having raised two athletes of her own, understands the challenges of fueling them while respecting their age and development.

Be sure to tune in to this interview. It’s a little longer than my 20-25 minute regular length podcast, but I promise it’s worth every minute!
